tags: okay so, s1 merthur was like, them mutually appraising each other like damn this guy is pretty hot while experiencing brief 'oh shit i can't live without him' moments, s2 merthur was like arthur realizing him and merlin were getting too close after s1 finale and trying to push him away, we see merlin get to be more of his own person with the dragonlord plotline and his brief freya-escapade, we really see arthur push him away the entire first half of the season but then around 2x06 they come back together as end-s1 status merthur, season 3 though, season 3 is where arthur REALLY tries to push merlin away because the end of s2 finale like, i'm pretty sure they both went up to arthur's room and merlin gently massaged arthur's shoulders or something, and dressed his woundz, because he felt so guilty over the dragon, and there was some candlelight long passionate gazes, but season 3 consists of arthur basically shitting on merlin all season, seriously most of the gentle affection they tried to write out and force the arwen storyline on us hardcore, the only sort of redeeming quality we get is s3 finale with the 'merlin you should go with them' and the eye love-making at the round table, season 4 starts out with them being very close once again, up until 4x07 where arthur pushes him away again, we get all the comfortable affection and utterly-devoted-and-in-love moments in the opener, and then the writers are just like wait they are close?! towards the second half of the season, I think after he becomes king he has to push merlin away a little bit or at least he thinks he has to, but towards the end of the season i want to punch arthur in the face, 'don't worry merlin can clean it up', 'gwen has provided trusted counsel and shit these past few months', oh okay, not like merlin is the one that you look to for all your answers or anything, don't even acknowledge it, cool story bro, this has been a merthur rant,
